[update] G20 - Climate Camp

Disgusting.

At the City of Money, the city of midia and closed circuit televisions, the city of empty people and streets. Where idiots wave £10 notes from their windows and find fun in everything going on down there. Where the police fights againts protesters of a cause they've no idea about.

"shame on me!", the crowd shouted.
Couldn't be a better way to express what we felt.

[ following, update from http://london.indymedia.org.uk/articles/943 ]

01:50 ClimateCamp Twitter reports "Street empty. They beat us out and squashed our tents. But oh what a world we created! Shame on the powers that be."

01:50: Police report 87 arrests.

01:20 Reports that Climate Camp has been evicted by police - people pushed back and beaten, wondering how to retrieve their belongings.

01:10 - Police pulling people out of Climate Camp from southern perimeter.

00:30 Climate Camp participants have been making speeches to the police about why they have been taking action today.

00:20 Reports from Climate Camp of police using boltcutters to dismantle the bike barricade whilst there is now nothing to stop them coming in from the North. People just sang Happy Birthday en masse to a girl despite police at either end.

Earlier reports of riot police beating peaceful people at Southern end of Climate Camp, following fun Celidh dance at southern perimiter. People thinking the police will let them leave if they wish.

23:55 Climate Camp - Police are now moving from south to north pushing people out of the space occupied by the climate camp, and it's clearing out fast.  About 500 people are left at this point.

23:45 Peole are still being pursued and were last seen turning in Shoreditch High Street towards Hackney.

23:28 Climate Camp: Crowd pushed past Liverpool Street as a group are chased at speed pursued by police dogs and vans. At least one arrest.

23:20 Reports from Climate Camp of police beating people back away from Southern perimiter towards Liverpool Street.

23:18 Climate Camp: Letting people out from South side opposite Liverpool St. Lots of police charging, Bottles being thrown from outside camp towards charging cops

22:48 - About 2000 people in Climate Camp Kettle, police want to impose a section 14 and ID everyone. They're looking to force people out through the North two at a time. There are police massing at the South End, Due to the amount of campers that does currently not seem feasible.

22:36 - Mainstream Media report that a man collapsed and died at the protest. We have not yet been able to confirm this.

22:20 - Climate Camp: Up to a thousand people remain inside the besiged camp. The police have said that they will allow people to leave, but will take names and addresses of everyone who does so. There's been a camp meeting but no consensus has been reached on what to do. Generally there is still a positive atmosphere amonst the peaceful demonstrators.

21:35 - Climate Camp: A photographer was taken to one side by police and threatened under anti-terror legislation that he was not allowed to take pictures of police "engaged in their duty." Police confiscated his camera and attempted to delete all the photographs he'd taken.  The photographer pulled out another camera to film them doing this, and was threatened again, but police then returned the first camera.

21:27 - Climate Camp: the riot police have marched through the sit-down protest without attacking and reinforced the cop cordon on the north side of the climate camp.  There are now 3 lines of cops there.

21:19 - Climate Camp: on the north side of the climate camp, outside the kettle, 100 riot police are lining up and looking as if they will attack/evict the peaceful demonstrators.

G20 - [Report first day] Ingles/Portugues

My Point of view based on things that I saw during this day of protests.

I have to admit that it was my first time in an important movement like this.
Amazing, I would say...
Been there in the middle of the crowd, screaming, and facing the power of the police against me, and they feeling like catching me or even punch me, there is no words to explain how I felt.
I wasn`t there fighting for an ideology, or even against the capitalism or whatever it is... I was there because as communication worker I really care about the future of nations, environmental issues, natural resources and economy decisions. I was there because I believe that some important decisions are going to be decided. So, with the high numbers of manifestation around London I think somebody and somehow they gonna listen us... and they main idea that everybody is trying to say is: Put the People first.
And I think that if we have somebody to represent us as "Brazilians" in the G20, I had to, at least, scream one: Vai toma no cu tranquilo to them. And I did!
I went to 2 big events and walked around Bank and Trafalgar square. I realize that lots of people were there just to take pictures, others just to drink beers and other two mustache guys just to release them young spirit of revolutionary. I am not but, when we are child we dream a bit. Whatever, the situation in bank, the place wich has the tube station closed was a little tense. The police was building a oppressive against the people who was in the square and making them separate from the rest of the crowd around. this was the reach of the peak of the stress In there. The most yelled verse was against the stupid police force, and if that people had something to say, they were silent by the power.
The second one were peaceful and it was about Gaza stripe and it was in Trafalgar square, known as a point of freedom of speaking. People in there were not violent as they were talking about waste of money in war instead of education and setting work for refugees and people from that place wich is complete destroyed. I think it gonna be discussed in the G20`s meeting.
Tomorrow we will cover the situation again… Ok, today… I’m on the TV now and I will stay here till late in the night. And I really want to thanks Filipe and Coxa by the supporting in earth and Lucca by the supporting in the war.

What`s on in Brazil now? [UpDate]

Greenpeace G20

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — We've got a message for the leaders of the richest nations in the world who are gathering in London for the G20 meeting to discuss the global economic crisis.
Fifteen activists unfurled this 50 meter (164 feet) x 30 meter (98 feet) banner from the bridge at the Guanabara bay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
We decided to send this message from the birthplace of two of the most important UN Conventions of modern times, addressing climate change and biodiversity. The huge wave of hope created by the World Summit ECO-92 (better known as the Earth Summit) in Rio -- that all countries would work together to save life on Earth -- has vanished. After 17 years without serious action by the world's leaders to change the pattern of carbon-based development, the planet is close to reaching the point where runaway climate change cannot be averted unless we act now.

15:20 - Climate Camp: Still going Strong, over 2000 people and 150 tents, described as a hugely impressive infrastructure. There are theatre performances, compost toilets, a medical tent, a couple of working kitchens, with many people picnicing there. The camp has been attracting passers by and city workers. There are police lines on iether side of the camp but people are allowed in and out. Plenty of dancing and banners across the street.

Paramos neles. Mas ainda tem mais!".

Target Train

Back to the point!

This time we are back to speak about cards and evolution…
I brought you guys the new advert campaign from Visa. Do you remember the last one, talking about life is now and things like this… Oh ye! They didn’t change! Heheheh Actually they did, this time using “Go”, like a expression to encourage people to expend… YEH GO for it… Beautiful!

And this advert I show you, brings to this a nice concept. Some people believes that in terms of creation it’s unnecessary the off voice speaking in the back ground, I do as well. It explains twice. The old story of the 1+1=1.

Let's do it!

This is something that has been circulating in e-mails, blogs and everything else for some time now, so let's join the idea: It's the random album cover generator. To make your own very cool album cover just follow the steps:

1 - Get a band name
Simply use the title of a randomly-generated Wikipedia article.

2 - Get an album title!
Use the last four or five words from the last quote on a page of random quotations.

3 - Get some album art!
Use the image thrown up using this Flickr tool, which generates random images without copyright restrictions.

4 - Make it look nice!
Using Photoshop, Paint, or whatever graphics software you have, fiddle your band logo and album title into some kind of visually-pleasing assemblage.

After that send it to us (flat1209@gmail.com) and we'll put it up here! Here's mine:

remember not to forget

Curtas metragens invadem o resto do espaço.
Trilhas sonoras.

Me ofereço possibilidades e ofertas. Estrago e rasgo algumas, cultivo outras.

Target Train

Starts here when the mobile company T-Mobile decided to make a viral video in the Liverpool Street Station 11:00 in the morning on 15th January, with a dance which looks like improvisation but the choreography was practiced before. The action was advertised on indoors palate in the principals station all over London, had success and very fast it was spread on the internet. Such simple and fast idea couldn't be better done. 3.586.157 views in 1 month or less then these. Fantastic!

People from the Facebook inspired in the T-mobiles video decide to make another “flashmob” which was planed on-line, but now it became into a little problem. The Liver Pool St. station is tight for 14.000 dancers and it was closed for a wile because of the high number of curious. Whatever, nobody was arrested and no crimes were noticed. Another meeting is planning to be happen on Friday 13 on Trafalgal Square and these time we, form the Twelve0nine, are going to be there.

2 for 1

This is a sort of buy 1 get one for free post. I can start with a literary tip, recommending the book I've been reading for the past few weeks and than move on to another new wonder from the internet.

The book is "Franny and Zooey", by J.D. Salinger, which grabbed my interest after I read a review in a blog somewhere I don't remember now. Anyway, a long time ago I read "The Catcher in the Rye" and it instantly became one of my all-time favorite classics and I had always thought of reading something else by Salinger and now I've started doing so.

And now comes the second advice: I'm still in the middle of the book, but I'm already curious to understand a little bit more about it, so while browsing Wikipedia I stumbled upon this http://academicearth.org/ which is a site that provides videos from lecturers in some of the world's best universities teaching several subjects, from literature to physics, all for free and available anytime, anywhere. The video about "Franny and Zooey" is here.

Cheers,

Coxa

Flat 1210 !!!

Yep! That's it! The Flat 1210 is available!!
I've just received a call from the rent agency, offering us the flat just besides ours!!

So, if you're interested, give me a shout NOW!!

The guy is calling me back late today.

Important communication.

If you see a woman or a man laying asleep on the pavement or on any floor please wake her/him up, perhaps she/he wants to go home but just doesn’t realize it until awake.

I’ve been sleeping on many trains & buses till the last stop but at least on comfortable seats;

I woke up in unknown places and experienced something new each time.

But laying beside a wall in a cold train station or bus stop in the middle of a crowded street is not a good rest and not at all an interesting experience.

I’m glad of having been woken up by strangers, and here I want to thank them.

Thank you all for letting me realize of being exposed in the cold and possibly being in danger but mostly thank you for having taken away from the pavement a man who just wanted to sleep and not be wasted.

Faithfully Yours

In life, we got many points of view to follow. You should choose one to be your main thinking line, based in references that you had, during the construction of your own character. Or not.

I came to show you two adds from Fiat, one in Italian and the other one in French. I’ve been questioning with Lucca and Filipe, about the essence of the information behind the emotional feelings that they pass. And we conclude that they made a mistake because the French video has another sort of images, words and final message but in the same context, which breaks the whole intimacy that we already developed with the first Fiat Italian’s add. They proved that it’s all about money, when they could cover this true having another idea. Or something like this.

Watch the Italian one first, so then go to the French one later.

And i want to congratulate my friends for starting to write.

What is here written is something I found in the net, is not 'flour from my sack'(I mean is not plagiarism)but the fact of 'ME' founding it, is demostration of my concern.
Luca F.C. forencunt

“The important thing is to never stop questioning.” That quote is often attributed to Einstein. I cannot confirm that he ever actually said this. But I doubt I would hear many arguments if I suggested he was one of the greatest thinkers in history.

Is “questioning” really all that important? I guess it depends on how you interpret “important”. At some point in my life I decided to take that path. “Questioning” … “knowing” … is very important to me.

It’s even more important to me than “happiness”.

I also read a study once of a conjectural connection between intelligence, depression and a “sense of reality”: they tested people who identified themselves as “happy, content” and people who identified themselves as “unhappy, depressed” and gave them a test to assess their knowledge of history and current events. The “happy” people had no idea what went on or what was going on, whereas the “unhappy” people did. Whether they knew these things because they were depressed type people or were depressed because they knew these things is hard to guess.

Super Heróis Modernos

O Homem Invisível.

Trabalha duro todo dia. Das 6 as 6, quando não mais.
Acorda cedo, pega ônibus lotado, metro entupido, multidão na calcada, escritório movimentado, dia cheio, fim de tarde vazio.
Limpa. Varre.

The Invisible Man.

Works hard every day. From 6 to 6, sometimes even more.
Wake up early, get crowded buses, packed tubes, people (crowd) on the sidewalk, busy office, full day, empty late afternoon.
Cleans. Brush. Empty the trash cans and ask for permission.
Dirt that no one sees.
Looks down, while everybody looks up.
Stay and hide under the carpet or at the corners, when throwed there.
The invisible man: Passes by, and nobody sees.

I had a dream (and I still have)

50 years ago, in USA, a black person, by law, should give his place for a white one.
Yesterday the same nation gave it's most important place for a black.

Two days ago the nation stopped to celebrate Martin Luther King's birthday.
Yesterday the world stopped to celebrate the birth of a symbol to a new era.
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Hope and respect, materialized into a man. That's what Obama means. But hope can't be confused with dream. He's, definitely, huge challenges to face. If he will succeed, or not, is a matter of time. Changes take time, but at some point they must start. Obama doesn't need to "save the world", but point a direction.

As the most powerful man in the world, Obama is a step that can start a long walk through a more respectful, fair and better world.
My only concerns, somehow, can be explained quoting our ex-pop-star-Minister, Gilberto Gil:
Overall, I'm still with a NY reporter that wrote:
"Not a right or left wing radical, but a radical. Cause this is a radical moment."

*English version is coming.

Fantastico - Musica

de: Felipe Moura

assunto: Re: personagem

Cleck. A porta rangindo... e abrindo. Ele, triunfante, sob holofotes, estufando o peito e olhando o horizonte!!

I'd rather post it today than leave it for tomorrow!

Em volta da mesa
Longe do quintal
A vida começa
No ponto final
Eles têm certeza
Do bem e do mal
Falam com franqueza do bem e do mal
Crêem na existência do bem e do mal
O porão da América
O bem e o mal
Só dizem o que dizem
O bem e o mal
Alegres ou tristes
São todos felizes durante o Natal
O bem e o mal
Têm medo da maçã
A sombra do arvoredo
Eles guardam dinheiro
O bem e o mal

Guinness Time

Watching movies could be the perfect time to dink Guinness, and this has been what they want to show in this short movies.

They call people who works behind the cameras to be the main star of the campaing.

The editor of “Sexy Beast”, the "settup maker" of “The Queen”, the duble of “Batman: The Dark Knight”, the supervisor of special efects of “Black Hawk Down”, the animation director of “Wallace & Gromit” and the sound mixer of “The Shining”.

Many thanks.

To read and see

Comic stories area a major source of distraction for me on the internet. I always find some time during my day to drop by my favourite artists' sites and have a look at what's new. Here are some of them, I'll try to keep the internationalist purpose of this blog and share 3 of them.

Perry Bible Fellowship (USA)

Allan Sieber (Brasil)

Liniers (Argentina)

Cheers!

albalaba

Just imagine... you're about 18 years old. How much did you live? How many different things you learned and experienced... Come on, at the end it's 18 years. Ok?
So, suddenly, you listen a new word. A completely new word. A word that you had never listened before. Never.
Initially it sounds as something nonsense. Just a new sound. A new "albalaba" that someone said. No meaning related to that at all.

albalaba albalaba albalaba

Eventually you even think: "Hey, it's sound nice! albalaba!!"
But it's simply a sound. A noise. You can pronounce it without any worries. Try: albalaba, albalaba.
Remember, all your childhood is gone. You're almost an "adult".
albalaba. A new sound. A new word. Nothing else. Can you imagine it happening to you right now?! Try...

My friend, Andrea, born in Czech Republic, heard, for the first time in her life, at her 18's, the word 'religion'.
